TAIWAN
Taiwan: Welcome
summer 2019 | In mid-August, I visited my grandparents’ home country, Taiwan, for two weeks— the first time since I was a small child. Nicknamed ilha formosa, meaning “beautiful island,” by Portuguese sailors passing by in 1542, the island has retained the same lushness and humidity that I remember experiencing all those years ago. Armed with a few rolls of film and my DSLR, I set out to rekindle my connection to the island, and to capture its beauty and spirit.
